"I don't stop when I'm tired, I stop when I'm done..."
Vana was born May 21st, 1988 and has been alone for a majority of her life, She lost both of her parents when she was 10 years old, becoming an orphan in an over-crowded system. Ever since that day, Vana has made it year after year with no one to be close to and no one to help her.
She got her GED when she was she was 16 years old and moved to NYC just 3 years after that. A small bag of toiletries and a change of clothes were her worldly possessions.
The sounds of the city remind me that I'm alive.
For the first three years, Vana bounced around from apartment to apartment, unable to keep a stable rent payment going or find a landlord that wasn't crooked. She lived in her fair share of roach infested rooms before her hitman efforts started to pay off. After a year of not asking too many questions, Imogen found out where Vana was living and helped her get into a larger place. The apartment she lives in now (above) has been her home for the last 10ish years. It's her home base, her happy place, and the only thing that Vana owns in her life that is larger than a suitcase.
Yeah...her furniture is rented. Even with her own place, Vana still is not home very often. Traveling frequently helps the times she is home feel all that more special. Often, Jinx will come to Vana's apartment and take care of her plants. The guest room is open to Jinx for those late night errands. The life of an assistant, right?
And One Became Two: Vana meets Jinx
With years of successes under her belt, Vana felt as if she could do no wrong. Imogen was giving her assignment after assignment and everything felt easy. That was, until Vana got cocky and slipped up, exposing herself and foiling a mission completely. When she returned home, Imogen was livid.
Coincidentally at this same time, Jinx was two months into her temp job at Gallart and bombing terribly. She arrived early for a meeting with Imogen (where she was going to be fired) and walked in on the two fighting. As an act of passive aggressive punishment, Imogen tasks Jinx to be Vana's personal assistant. Ever since then, it's been a team of two. Jinx has had to change everything about her life to keep up with Vana's demands and needs, but she's eager to prove herself.
Vana has slowly learned to accept Jinx over time, and even finds that she misses her company on a quiet evening alone.
And One Became Three: Vana meets Ewan and Crinkle
Vana spent a majority of her life with no family connections, until one day a fluffy guy named Ewan found her. He was her cousin on her mom's side and with him, came another connection in Crinkle. Suddenly, Vana found herself connected to family and felt a piece of herself click in place.
Her "new" family comes with their own issues, of course. Imogen found her way into getting Crinkle to join the business. Ewan on the other hand can't keep a job to save his life. For as nice and friendly as the guy is, he just can't get out of his own way. Vana does her best to pick up the pieces when she's in town. She does whatever she can to not let her family mix too much with her other life though. Crinkle knows a little bit, but not the full extent of what Rana does. Ewan...has no clue.
You can see the resemblance, right? Vana sure can! Seeing herself in her cousins grounded her at a point in her life when Vana was being overly reckless and her will to live was wishy-washy at best. She's renewed with this sense of family.
